How to combat and prevent common ailments during pregnancy and beyond

Yeast Infections

At the first onset of a yeast infection, taking a bath with a cup of Apple Cider Vinegar added in can greatly aid the healing process. Also cutting out sugar and carbs allows for the infection to die quicker.

According to reviews on this product (pictured left), it brings almost immediate relief to vaginal itchiness and stinging. It’s a great natural way to get rid of yeast infections.

Colds, Flus and Viruses

These, taken on a regular basis, are your best defense against colds, flus and viruses. If you get sick, start taking these immediately to reduce intensity and longevity of the illness.

Triple Defense

Berry flavored drink mix packed with vitamin C, D, Zinc, elderberry and more.

At the first sign of a cold this is my #1 go-to. This seems to stop it in it’s tracks.

Nutriferon

A botanical blend of 4 plant extracts: pumpkin seed, asian plantain seed, safflower, Japanese honey suckle and zinc. These nutrients work synergistically to increase immune support at the cellular level. Can be taken preventatively or as needed.

Patented study proved that Nutriferon reverses Hepatitis C.

Vitamin D3

Leading doctors are advising higher levels of vitamin D3 to insure an immunity level to help fight viruses. Helps to support bone health, heart health and overall immunity.

Gestational Diabetes

Most women who become gestational diabetics have some history in their family of diabetes. But, knowing how to take care of it naturally will increase health both now and in the future. Increasing protein to between 80-100 grams per day is the first step. Eating lots of natural green vegetables is next step. Small amounts of carbs with your protein and vegetable meal are still possible. Testing with a glucometer is necessary to really know where you stand. Even though this is hard, it is imperative for your health and the baby’s health. I recommend the book Real Food for Gestational Diabetes. This book will take the crazy out of trying to figure things out.

Mastitis

The first sign of mastitis is a small pink spot somewhere on the breast. Then it feels a little sore, and then you spike a fever. This can be initiated by a clogged milk duct. Prevention for that would be to take Lecithin.

Infection Tea/ Mastitis

This is my recipe for the tea.  Steep 3-5 minutes, drink one 6-8oz cup every 2 hours for the first 24 hours or until fever breaks, whichever happens first.  Then drink 4 cups a day.  A metal tea strainer works well.

1 tsp oregano
2 whole cloves
1 tsp thyme
1/2 inch cinnamon stick
1 tsp peppermint
1 bay leaf

Take 1000 mg vita C 3 x day
Also, Take 2400 mg of Lecithin, 12 hrs apart
Hot compress on breast, massage clogged duct.
Put baby on that breast with chin pointing towards clogged duct. It will help unclog it.

Get some help, stay in bed. Drink plenty of fluids. You can continue to nurse on that breast.

Headaches

Over the counter medicines are not recommended for headaches during pregnancy.

I was getting migraines every cycle for a while. There are many homeopathic remedies for migraines and headaches in general, but the one that has helped me most has been Kali bichromium. And nux vomica to help with the nausea that accompanies.

Headache remedy

Headache – strong ginger tea (made with fresh ginger) or in a pinch, 1/4 teaspoon dried ground ginger mixed in a spoonful of honey.

Peppermint oil on the temples will help alleviate pain.

Chiropractic care and / or massage therapy can aid in recovery as well.
